PREREQUISITES

  • Students must be 18 years old or older. If the student is not yet 18 years of age, they must have graduated high school
  • Students are required to pass all courses included in this program with a 75% or higher to receive their diploma

    I have completed my Basic Makeup Diploma + ITEC Certificate, Airbrushing Certificate, Advanced Makeup Diploma, Hairstyling Diploma, and Special FX Diploma at Artists Within. I did my first two courses online and my last three in person, and I was able to take a lot away from the experience. Tara (the owner) taught the online courses. I thought she reviewed and explained all of the information very well with exceptional patience. I received consistent and informative feedback from all of my assignments and felt greatly confident going into Advanced and Special FX. Advanced went further into characterization, body painting, and creativity. Contrary to my confidence, Advanced challenged me the most because it was so different from basics. The challenge was a learning opportunity that allowed me to grow as a makeup artist and now I love body painting (something I didn’t think I would enjoy). Special FX was definitely my favorite course. The instructor did an amazing job teaching the content and was an exceedingly kind and supportive person. There is a lot of information to understand, apply, and memorize, but it was SO MUCH FUN! At the end of each diploma we had a photoshoot that gave us the opportunity to practice being ‘on-set’. The experiences you get from them is amazing and you get professional photos to slowly build your portfolio. They can feel overwhelming, however each time I completed one it got less stressful, and I felt more prepared. Additionally, you also have access to feedback and guidance through the photoshoots. Being out of school is really weird but I feel excited about my future as a makeup artist. Furthermore, the school goes above and beyond by offering to assist you with finding and applying to jobs and volunteer opportunities. I would definitely recommend this school and I hope to come back in the future to add to my skill set!
